BIO
Joanne, a Chicago native, currently lives in Wilmette. She has been actively involved in fine art for over 50 years, working in acrylic, oil and experimental watercolor. Her award winning work has appeared in shows in Chicago, Winnetka, Wilmette, Evanston, Lake Forest and Skokie in Illinois, as well as Manitowish Waters, Minocqua, Rhinelander, Land O Lakes, Three Lakes and Boulder Junction in Wisconsin.
Joanne Is interested in dividing, warping and pushing space to the ultimate: using a strong design primarily of geometric forms. One series was done in transparent acrylics, allowing the lines of the drawing beneath to show. This technique has been used in abstract cityscapes, as well as some of her figurative musician series. The sailboat is another subject of great interest and has appeared throughout her career. The shape of the canvas is also important. She loves working on squares, for to be successful, it is mandatory to create a design to move the viewer's eye.
