I have known since second grade that art was my passion. My classmates and I were sitting in a circle around our teacher, and were asked to draw her. We learned briefly about perspective and shading. It opened my eyes to a whole new world. It was at that moment that I realized how substantial my excitement was for art. I would sketch ever free moment that I had and have be drawing and painting ever since.
My desire for inspiration grew even stronger, as I was taught by my mother and grandmother how to plant and nurture for some of the most beautiful flowers that I had ever seen. Since then, I have expanded my growth as an artist and a gardener. Some of my most exquisite paintings have been created from photographs taken of my garden.
I have always been a creative person, and love to come up with fresh ideas for my paintings. At the age of 16, I was commissioned to paint furniture, murals, and canvases. I went on to receive my B.A. in Studio Art from Northern Illinois University and a B.F.A. in Interior Design from Illinois Institute of Art. I had designed for several home builders, until I realized I needed to create more than just interiors. It was then that I started to show my paintings at Art Festivals and had won several Art Awards. I began to teach art classes and workshops at David Adler Music and Arts Center and have now become their Art Program Coordinator and Art Exhibit Curator. I have recently expanded my love at curating art exhibits to other locations.
My art career has been very rewarding and fulfilling to me. My choice of mediums are Ink, watercolor, and Prismacolor pencil. My subjects vary from figurative females to whimsical birds to eye pleasing organic designs. My colors and style are very bright and bold.
Art is not just what I do, it’s who I am. Just as I need to eat and sleep to survive, creating art is just as vital to my life.
